Daimon in the Rough
Fall Equinox 2025 to Fall Equinox 2026 . The daimon is a term that has evolved over time. According to Rollo May, "the daimonic is any natural function which has the power to take over the whole person" - and yet, it is also a key to wholeness. Why? The daimon is both creative & destructive. This term can be equated with a multitude of things; however in the scope of this service, it will be a neutral term equated with the shadow. . Oftentimes, both the daimon, the shadow, and things of similar energetic signatures conjure up "icky" images and feelings - all of which lead to various umbrellas of alerts and dangers and stay-aways. And yet, that is where golden power is, waiting for integration. The personal shadow is anything that we individually designate to stand outside of our egoic expression. Our egoic ideal. We do this collectively, too, when we culturally decide what is "acceptable" or "appropriate" and what is, therefore, "taboo", or "deviant" - a conglomeration of things that ought to be rid of. Yet, as Stephen Diamond shares in Meeting the Shadow, by Connie Zweig and Jeremiah Abrams, "when we choose instead to constructively integrate the daimonic into our personality, we participate in the metamorphic process of creativity". . We craft our shadows very, very well in our formative years. They are inherently tied to what we understand (or come to understand) as discarded-for-survival. Mom/Dad says to (be)have a certain way, and whether we do or do not - that formulates both our outward appearance, personality structure, and expression, as well as our well of shadows. These are forever linked. And, in that light, we actually need them both. |

Stephen Keen, another contributor to Meeting the Shadow, by Connie Zweig and Jeremiah Abrams, says, "the process of unconscious projection of the shadow is universal; enemies 'need' each other to dispose of their accumulated, disowned, psychological toxins". He continues, "we form a hate bond, an 'adversarial symbiosis', an integrated system that guarantees that neither of us will be faced with our own shadow". In my opinion, this is a loop - an ongoing cycle - that can be interrupted. It will not "rid" of either "side"; however, it can certainly soften edges, ignite compassion & understanding, and it can bridge any gap around the ever-elusive land of peace.
. In short, tapping into the massive reservoir of energy that is the shadow can be extremely fruitful. A powerful reclamation into and towards wholeness. There is so, so much to explore in this offer - and I encourage you to do so not only for yourself, but also for the collective as well. Certainly there are a myriad of differences among us. But differences need not be duplicated as extravagant systems of separation. Keyword is extravagant. Perhaps for some and for some things, separation "needs" to exist... because like anything with the shadow... let's leave room. . Daimon in the Rough is a year-long offer. I will be utilizing so, so, so many things in this adventure. Starting Fall Equinox, we will dive into what would be Libra Season & Shadow. Theme = Relationships. Every month, our first weeks together will be about dreams & active imagination. You will receive PDFs, videos and/or voice memos of information around each month's themes (through the Signal app - not all about astrology; I am simply following the zodiac for a certain & unique foundational flow). You will receive creative & expressive prompts to really grasp your shadow(s) as you see fit. You will also receive one session per month with me, included in cost. Finally, there will be a space for group connection as well because, in my opinion, shadow play cannot be done alone very well. We need others to see our blind spots!
